Journalistic focus

Since the mid-1990s, Müller has repeatedly dealt with the consequences of the monetary integration of Europe. A first book appeared on this in 1997, “Kursbuch Euro”. In 1999 his dissertation “Exchange rate policy of the Eurozone” and “Euro as a major power” followed. In 2002 he worked as a co-author on the “European Central Bank Handbook”, a guide for ECB watchers. His work "Blasting Device Inflation" from 2010 deals with the consequences of the financial crisis. In 2012, he presented a future concept for the monetary union with "Euro-Vision" (shortlist of the German Business Book Prize ). In 2014, a dispute between Müller and his colleague Walter Krämer was published as an e-book under the title “Does the Euro Still Have a Future?”.

In addition, Müller has dealt with a variety of other economic policy issues. In 2004 he analyzed common misjudgments in the debate about Germany as a location and globalization. In 2014 another book with a similar title was published with “Wirtschaftsirrtäne - 50 mistakes in thinking that cost us head and neck”, which in particular dissected the consequences of the financial crisis for economic thinking and action. In 2006 he published a study on the connection between national identity and economic prosperity "Economic factor patriotism ", in 2008 a future-oriented study on the interaction of demography, globalization and climate change "The Seven Scarcities".

Today Müller writes a weekly column for “ Spiegel Online ” (“Müller’s Memo”) and a monthly essay in the printed edition of “manager magazin”.
