Henrik Signell (born January 2, 1976 in Gothenburg ) is a Swedish handball coach and former handball player .
Career
As a player
Henrik Signell started playing handball at IK Sävehof in 1983 . The backcourt player made his debut in the Sävehof first team when he was still a teenager. After he ran up for Partille IF in the 1997/98 season, he then returned to IK Sävehof. After Signell ran up five seasons for Sävehof, he joined Alingsås HK , for which he was active two seasons. In 2005 he ended his active career. During his career he played a game for the Swedish national team .
As a trainer
In 2005, Signell took over as coach of the junior team from IK Sävehof. Under his leadership, the team won the Swedish junior championship three times and the runner-up twice in the following five seasons. He then worked as an assistant coach for the men's team at Sävehof. Between 2010 and 2012 he was also assistant coach of the Finnish women's national team . In 2012 he took over the coaching of the women's team from IK Sävehof, which won the Swedish championship five times under his leadership. In 2016, Signell also took on the role of coach for the Swedish women's national team . After the 2017/18 season he gave up his coaching position at Sävehof. In the summer of 2020 his activity as the Swedish national coach ended. For the 2020/21 season he took over the first division club IFK Skövde HK .
