Henrique Júnior

Henrique André Júnior is an Angolan politician from the Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA).

Life

Henrique André Júnior completed a law degree , which he completed with a licentiate in law (Licenciado em Direito) . After Angola's independence from Portugal on November 11, 1975, between 1976 and 1979, he took over the post as military prosecutor of the 4th region and then moved to the State Fisheries Administration, where he was director of small-scale fisheries between 1982 and 1991, and national between 1991 and 1996 Director for Fisheries and most recently Secretary General for Fisheries from 1996 to 1997. He then acted from 1997 to 2004 as Vice-Minister for Fisheries (Vice-Ministro das Pescas) in the government of the Prime Minister Fernando José de França Dias Van Dúnem (1997 to 1999) President José Eduardo dos Santos (1999 to 2002) and Prime Minister Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos (2002 to 2004).

In 2004, Júnior took over the post of governor of the province of Cuanza Norte , which he held until 2016. At the same time, he was First Secretary of the MPLA Committee of the Province of Cuanza Norte between 2009 and 2016. In the election of December 31, 2012 , he was elected to the national list of the Movimento Popular de Libertação de Angola (MPLA) for the first time as a member of the National Assembly (Assembleia Nacional) . On October 27, 2017, he succeeded Adão Francisco Correia de Almeida again as a member of the National Assembly, which is a member of the 4th Parliamentary Commission (4th Comissão: Administração do Estado e Poder Local) , which is responsible for state administration and local government . He is also a member of the MPLA Central Committee.
