Henry Baudin

Henry Baudin (born January 31, 1876 in Geneva ; † October 30, 1929 there ) was a Swiss architect and architecture journalist . He was best known as a propagandist of the Heimatstil through his catalog-like volume on the villas and country houses in Switzerland.

life and work

After an apprenticeship in Louis Sautter's architecture office , studies at the École des beaux-arts de Genève and internships at Grosset and Golay and Marc Camoletti , Baudin built some houses in suburbs and took part in competitions. In 1901 he won the competition for the primary school in Moutier together with Dufour, and in 1905 was commissioned to build the primary school in Nyon. His most famous building is the Théâtre de la Comédie from 1913. From 1919 to 1928 he taught at the École des beaux-arts in Geneva.
