Marc Camoletti (born August 12, 1857 in Cartigny GE ; died December 13, 1940 in Geneva ) was a Swiss architect .

Education and life

Camoletti studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in the early 1880s and worked there in Louis-Jules André's studio . After his return to Switzerland he became a partner of his older brother John from 1884 , with whom he ran the office until his death in 1894, after which he worked alone until he took in his son Jean in 1918. In 1926 he retired from professional life.

Camoletti created his mostly very representative buildings - luxury apartments and hotels, school buildings, main post offices, the Musée d'art et d'histoire - in an opulently orchestrated Beaux Arts style of late historicism. In addition to Geneva and French- speaking Switzerland, he worked in France and Cairo , where he planned casinos and hotels.

Camoletti was a Grand Councilor in Geneva, a federal expert on drawing in vocational schools, a founding member of the French Chamber of Commerce and the professional association of architects of the Canton of Geneva .
