Henry Christian Timm

Henry Christian Timm (* 1811 in Hamburg ; † 1892 in New York City ) was an American pianist , conductor and composer .

Timm lived in New York as a concert pianist, teacher, organist and chamber musician. He was the conductor of the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and was president of the city's Philharmonic Society from 1847 to 1864 . He composed a large mass , arrangements of classical works for two pianos and polyphonic songs . His second piano parts for six sonatinas by Clementis (Schirmer) are popular.
