Henry Frederick Stuart, Prince of Wales (born February 19, 1594 in Stirling Castle , † November 6, 1612 ) was the eldest son of King James I and Anna of Denmark .

He was born in Stirling Castle and received the titles of Duke of Rothesay , Earl of Carrick and Lord of the Isles as heir apparent of the king at birth . After his father had ascended the English throne in 1603, he was raised to Duke of Cornwall , and in 1610 to Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester .

Henry was not only his parents' great hope, his death at the age of only 18 was viewed as a disaster for the nation. From the records made during his autopsy, it can be concluded that he died of typhoid . His titles passed to his younger brother Charles , who until then had led a life in the shadow of his brother.

Henry was buried in Westminster Abbey .
