Henry López Báez , full name Henry Ariel López Báez , (born July 3, 1967 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

The 1.79 meter tall midfielder López Báez was part of the Bella Vistas team at the beginning of his career from 1990 to mid-1993 . During this period, the Montevideans won the Uruguayan championship for the first and so far only time in 1990. He then played for Club Atlético Talleres until mid-1995 and played four league games (no goal) for the Argentines in the 1994/95 season. Then he was active at Club Atlético Basáñez until about mid-1996 . From there López Báez moved to Centro Atlético Fénix . In 1997, Bella Vista signed him again. As part of this second engagement with the club from the Barrio Prado , from the 2001 season up to and including the 2004 season, participation in 76 games in the Primera División , in which he scored eight goals, is noted.
National team
López Báez made his debut on May 5, 1991 in the 0-1 away defeat against the United States in the Uruguayan senior team , when he was appointed to the starting line-up at Pedro Ramón Cubilla 's first game as national coach. In the following years he completed a total of eight internationals in which he scored one goal. He took part with the "Celeste" at the Copa America 1991 , in which he was used by the now responsible Luis Alberto Cubilla in two tournament games. As part of this competition, he played for the last time in the national jersey on July 15, 1991 in the 1-0 win against Colombia.

Trainer
After his active career, López Báez initially worked in Costa Rica at Manuel Keosseian's side as an assistant coach. He later worked at Bella Vista as an assistant to Ildo Maneiro . There he finally took over responsibility as interim coach for four games from November 2007. At least in 2016 he was a children's and youth trainer at Atlético Chenet on the Canary Island of Tenerife . He has lived there with his family in San Isidro since 2008 . His two sons also play soccer. The oldest is active for Las Zocas in the Tercera División of the Liga Canaria.
