Henry Palmer

Henry Palmer (* 28. September 1898 in Georgia ; † 20th March 1984 in Chicago ) was an American Stride - pianist .

Life

Palmer became known in the Chicago jazz scene from the late 1930s; he preferred to play with his bands in the white clubs, not the venues on the South Side. In 1942 he had an engagement in Frasik's Cocktail Lounge , in 1944 in the Whirlaway Lounge ; in the second half of the 1940s he was not active as a musician due to illness. Henry Palmer recorded his only session under his own name for JOB Records in 1951 , in which the singer Mitzi Mars participated ( Jump Boy ). In the 1950s he continued to play in various clubs in the city, such as Club Capri . He died in Chicago in March 1984.
