Henry Sagittarius

Henry Schütze (* 1955 ) is a German local politician and has been Lord Mayor of Bernburg since 2008 .

Life

The trained electrician studied constitutional law before the fall of the Wall and was a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED).

Schütze was the full-time mayor of the community of Gröna from 1984 to 1993 and then honorary until 2008 . From 1993 to 2008 he was managing director of a water and soil association .

In 2007 he was put up as a non-party candidate by the CDU for the office of Lord Mayor of Bernburg. In the first ballot in October 2007, no candidate was able to achieve an absolute majority. In the runoff election on November 4, 2007, Schütze received 65.2% of the vote, while the independent opponent Roland Halang received 34.8% of the votes. On March 1, 2008, he took office as the successor to the retired Mayor Helmut Rieche (CDU).

In the election of the Lord Mayor of the City of Bernburg (Saale) on November 16, 2014, Schütze was re-elected with 5,865 votes out of 29,462 eligible voters. With a turnout of 27.2%, this corresponded to around 73.9% of the 7,934 votes cast.

He is married and has a son.
