Henry Small (information scientist)

Henry Gilbert Small (* 1941 ) is an American information scientist.

Life

After studying chemistry , Small earned an academic Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1971. in the field of the history of science and chemistry. He then worked at the Center for History and Philosophy of Physics at the American Institute of Physics until 1972 . From 1972 to 1977 he was Senior Research Scientist at the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) in Philadelphia ( Pennsylvania ) and then until 2010 Head of Contract Research at ISI and Chief Scientist . Since 2010 he has been a Senior Scientist at SciTech Strategies, Inc.

To the cognitive context to clarify scientific publications, developed Small 1973 Kozitationsanalyse , unrelated to him by Irina Marshakova in the scientometrics was introduced. In 1987 he and VV Nalimov received the Derek John de Solla Price Award from Scientometrics magazine. In 1989 he became a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science .
