Henry Stewart, 1st Lord St. Colme

Henry Stewart, 1st Lord Saint Colme (before 1561 - 12 July 1612 ), was a Scottish peer .

He was the second-born son of James Stewart, 1st Lord Doune . His mother was Lady Margaret Campbell, daughter of Archibald Campbell, 4th Earl of Argyll .

In 1576 he owned lands in Emycreichan and Crostinterray in Strathearn . From 1581 he was administrator ( Commendator ) of the Abbey of Saint Colme's Inch in Fifeshire . Between 1591 and 1593 he also held the office of Constable of Doune Castle . In 1584 he was given the priory of St. Colmoc's in Perthshire for life . In 1607 he owned other lands at Invermay in Perthshire. In 1610 he became justice of the peace for Fifeshire and Kinross-shire .

King James VI transferred to him on March 7, 1611 the Abbey of Saint Colme's Inch including the associated lands, converted them into a secular Lordship of Parliament and bestowed on him the hereditary title of Lord St. Colme .

In December 1603 he had married Lady Jean Stewart, daughter of John Stewart, 5th Earl of Atholl . With her he had a son and heir, James Stewart († after 1620).

He died on 1612 and was buried in Holyrood Abbey .
