Henry Tye

Henry Sze-Hoi Tye ( Chinese  戴自海 , Pinyin Dài Zìhǎi ; * 1948 ) is an American theoretical physicist and cosmologist of Chinese origin.

Tye is best known for suggesting that a brane and an antibrane annihilate each other, thereby driving the inflation of the universe . Furthermore, his work in superstring theory , branch cosmology and elementary particle physics are well known in specialist circles.

He received his BS from the California Institute of Technology in 1970 and his Ph. D. in Physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1974 . From 1974 to 1977 he worked at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center , 1977 to 1978 at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory , 1978 to 1987 at Cornell University , where he has been a professor since 1987. He is also a Fellow of the American Physical Society .
