Henryk Kossowski the Younger

Henryk Kossowski the Younger (* 1855 in Cracow , Crown Land Galicia , Austrian Empire , † 1921 in Paris ) was a Polish sculptor .

Life

Henryk Kossowski studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow from 1873 to 1876 , first with his father Henryk Kossowski the Elder , and later with Marceli Guyski . His work was awarded prizes in Krakow in 1875 and 1876.

In 1880 he moved to Paris and received technical guidance in the studio of the French sculptor Mathurin Moreau . During his stay in the French capital, he took part in exhibitions of Polish artists, in 1900 he won the bronze medal at the Paris art exhibition . He also exhibited in Vienna, Warsaw and Lemberg, from 1882 to 1921 at the Society for Fine Arts in Krakow. He died in Paris in 1921.

Kossowski made bronze, patinated plaster and terracotta sculptures, genre sculptures and portraits. His objects were often characterized by a mythological or allegorical reference.
