The Herba Apotheker-AG is an Austrian pharmaceutical wholesaler and service provider headquartered in Vienna in Austria -Simmering and six other establishments.

history

On May 12, 1916, the Herba cooperative was founded by pharmacists for pharmacists. The conversion into a stock corporation took place in 1923. Over the years, the company grew through investments and acquisitions. In 1928, the company entered the home pharmacy business by participating in the medical business company AEWIGE; the hospital business followed in 1940. In 1940 and 1941 the company acquired the Österreichische Heilmittelstelle and Salus AG.

From 1950 the expansion to all of Austria and the establishment of branches began. At the beginning of the 1990s, Salus and Braumapharm (1991) merged, which was followed by the merger of Paul Hauser in Carinthia with Herba in 1996 . In 1997, the merger of Herba, Chemosan and Pharmazent resulted in today's Herba Chemosan Apotheker-AG . One year later, Salus Braumapharm and Schoeller Pharma merged to form Sanova Pharma GesmbH .

Today, Sanova consists of the areas of Brand Management and Logistics 360 ° and is incorporated as a subsidiary in Herba Chemosan Apotheker-AG. Herba Chemosan Apotheker-AG has been part of McKesson Europe AG since 2000 . In 2001 a new central warehouse was moved into Vienna-Simmering and the two Vienna locations of Herba Chemosan were merged.

Herba Chemosan Apotheker-AG claims to be the leading pharmaceutical wholesaler and service provider in Austria with a market share of around 46% and a supply relationship with more than 89% of Austrian pharmacies. In addition to the headquarters in Vienna-Simmering, the company has six other production sites in Graz , Linz , Klagenfurt , Salzburg , Rum and Dornbirn .

Together with the subsidiaries Aewige and Sanova, Herba Chemosan Apotheker-AG forms the Herba Group. Aewige is a business partner of Austrian pharmacies. Sanova markets health products from domestic and foreign companies and also takes on their central distribution for Austria.

The Herba Group employs around 900 people. Herba Chemosan has been one of Austria's leading companies since 2010 . In 2015 the company received the ISO certificate for the management system according to EN ISO 9001: 2008 from TÜV Austria .
