The Herbert Glacier is a 12 km long glacier in the panhandle of Alaska (USA). It is located 29 km north-northwest of Juneau , the capital of Alaska.

Located in the Tongass National Forest in the Boundary Ranges , the valley glacier forms an outlet glacier of the Juneau Icefield . The average 1.4 km wide glacier flows in a predominantly south-westerly direction and ends at around 180  m . Below the glacier tongue is a glacier edge lake that is drained via the Herbert River and Eagle River to the Favorite Channel . To the north of Herbert Glacier is the Eagle Glacier , to the south of the Mendenhall Glacier .

Naming

The glacier was named after the US politician Hilary Abner Herbert (1834-1919).
