The Herbert Plateau is a part of the central high plateau of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It lies between the Blériot and Drygalski glaciers .
The first photographs were taken during the Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition (1956–1957). The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) used these photographs for mapping. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the plateau in 1960 after the British polar explorer Wally Herbert (1934-2007), who worked for the FIDS as an assistant surveyor at the station at Hope Bay from 1956 to 1957 .
