Herbert Alber

Herbert Alber (* 1911 ; † 2006 ) was a German architect who also worked for many years as chairman of the Heilbronn district group of the Association of German Architects (BDA) and co-founder of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects .

Live and act

Alber acquired an education in the sense of the Stuttgart school . After graduating, he worked in an architectural office in Stuttgart in the 1930s and as a freelance, independent architect in Heilbronn after the war. His works include the Wharton Barracks , the Badener Hof barracks, the Mönchseeschule (at that time still the location of the Elly-Heuss-Knapp-Gymnasium Heilbronn ), the Heilbronn Waldorf School, the Neuenstadt town hall, many apartments, buildings for the entrepreneur Adolf Illig and that Visitor and information center of the former EVS . Alber built the business and residential building of the EW Kachel company together with Richard Scheffler (1950). Together with Kurt Häge and Gustav Ernst Kistenmacher, he completed the Heilbronner Kreissparkasse in 1958 and, in 1962, together with Richard Scheffler, the Hans-Rießer-Haus. He died in 2006 at the age of 95.
