Herbert Christian Baer (born August 26, 1881 in Munich , † May 23, 1954 in Bad Nauheim ) was a German engineer and professor at the Technical University of Wroclaw .
Life
He came from Bavaria and was the son of the Munich painter Christian Maximilian Baer and his wife Rosa, née Stradal. After attending the humanistic grammar school in Munich, he studied at the technical universities in Berlin and Munich. He completed his studies with a degree in engineering. He later obtained a doctorate in engineering.

After that he was the office manager of the general electricity company, Turbinenfabrik Berlin. Later he was appointed professor of steam and combustion engines and director of the machine laboratory at the Technical University of Wroclaw.
He published on gas machines, hydraulics, steam turbines, kinematics, etc. and specialized in heat machines. On April 1, 1939 Herbert Baer retired in Breslau. Shortly after the outbreak of World War II, it was put back into service in September 1939. Salary surcharges ensured that he would remain on the chair during the war.
After 1945 Herbert Baer had to leave Breslau. He went back to Bavaria and settled on the Chiemsee. There he became the first president of the yacht club. He died in 1954 and was buried in the cemetery on Fraueninsel .
