Herbert Demange (born May 24, 1959 in Saarlouis ) is a former German soccer player .
Career
Demange began playing football in the youth department of SC Saarlouis-Roden. At the age of eighteen, he moved to the Ruhr area for FC Schalke 04 in 1977 . In May he took part in the UEFA youth tournament with the German national youth team in Belgium . Other players included Walter Junghans (goalkeeper), Bernd Dierßen , Lutz Gerresheim , Holger Willmer and Michael Harforth . In his first year with the Gelsenkirchen team, he managed to be used in 13 games alongside strikers like Klaus Fischer , Rüdiger Abramczik and Erwin Kremers . He scored three goals that season. In his first Bundesliga game, on matchday 12 of the season, in front of a home crowd against VfL Bochum , he scored his first Bundesliga goal, he scored 1-0 (final score 3-1). In his second season for the Royal Blues, he was used 18 times and was successful with one goal of the season. In 1979 he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for FC 08 Homburg . Demange quickly became a regular player in the 2nd Bundesliga South, in which the Homburgers played, in his first season he scored five times, in his second season he was the most successful goalscorer of his team with 18 goals. The 1980/81 season was the last two-track season of the second division for the time being. So 22 teams got down, including Demange with his Homburgers. For the 1982/83 season he moved to Rot-Weiss Essen , so he continued to play in the 2nd Bundesliga. He was part of the permanent staff of the Rot-Weisse von der Hafenstrasse, in his first season he was deployed 32 times and met nine times; behind Jürgen Wegmann he was the team's most successful goalscorer. In the end, his team jumped out in fourteenth place, in his second season Essen was seventeenth and Demange repeated his values from the previous season, but this could not prevent the Essenes from relegating. In 1984 he moved to 1. FC Saarbrücken , with the Saarlanders third place in the second division was achieved, whereby the relegation for the first division was achieved. Demange was not used in both relegation games, Saarbrücken prevailed against Arminia Bielefeld . In the 1985/86 season Demange played his last first league year. He didn't score in seven missions and as the penultimate he had to start the second division with Saarbrücken. It was the third descent for Demange. He played another year in Saarbrücken before turning his back on professional football. In the following years he played for 1. FC 1919 Nalbach and SV 1920 Wallerfangen.
