Herbert Demange (born May 24, 1959 in Saarlouis ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Demange began playing football in the youth department of SC Saarlouis-Roden. At the age of eighteen, he moved to the Ruhr area for FC Schalke 04 in 1977 . In May he took part in the UEFA youth tournament with the German national youth team in Belgium . Other players included Walter Junghans (goalkeeper), Bernd Dierßen , Lutz Gerresheim , Holger Willmer and Michael Harforth . In his first year with the Gelsenkirchen team, he managed to be used in 13 games alongside strikers like Klaus Fischer , Rüdiger Abramczik and Erwin Kremers . He scored three goals that season. In his first Bundesliga game, on matchday 12 of the season, in front of a home crowd against VfL Bochum , he scored his first Bundesliga goal, he scored 1-0 (final score 3-1). In his second season for the Royal Blues, he was used 18 times and was successful with one goal of the season. In 1979 he moved to the 2nd Bundesliga for FC 08 Homburg . Demange quickly became a regular player in the 2nd Bundesliga South, in which the Homburgers played, in his first season he scored five times, in his second season he was the most successful goalscorer of his team with 18 goals. The 1980/81 season was the last two-track season of the second division for the time being. So 22 teams got down, including Demange with his Homburgers. For the 1982/83 season he moved to Rot-Weiss Essen , so he continued to play in the 2nd Bundesliga.
