Life

Herbert Freitag attended elementary school from 1921 to 1929, completed an agricultural apprenticeship until 1931 and worked as an agricultural assistant until 1933. Friday joined the CDU on November 15, 1945, co-founded the local association in Dassow and finally became its chairman. After the local elections in 1946, he took on political mandates in the city council of Dassow and in the Schönberg district council. In the state elections in 1946 he was elected to the state parliament. Freitag had been a member of the state executive committee of the CDU Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania since 1946 and was one of the opposition forces in the CDU state parliamentary group. After Siegfried Witte was dismissed as Minister of Economics, the state parliament mandate was revoked on Friday 1950 because he did not want to commit to the Oder-Neisse border and German-Soviet friendship .
