Herbert Kawan

Herbert Kawan (born May 26, 1903 in Dresden ; † 1969 ibid) was a German composer and conductor .

Live and act

At the age of 18 Kawan presented his first own compositions in the concert field. He studied at the Dresden Music Academy and then embarked on a career as a conductor. He got an engagement at the Metropoltheater Berlin , where he made the first adaptations of operettas. In collaboration with Peter Bejach as a librettist, several operettas were created: “Treffpunkt Herz” (1951), “Ferien am Schneeberg” (1953) and “Every Year in May” (1954), which premiered at the Metropoltheater and were popular in the 1950s . He composed operettas, film music and musical dramatic pieces.
