Herbert Kofler

Herbert Kofler (born May 14, 1949 in Linz , Austria ; † March 14, 2019 there ) was a tax advisor and holder of numerous mandates in private and public companies. Until his early retirement in March 2011, he was Professor of Business Administration at the University of Klagenfurt .

Life

Herbert Kofler studied business administration at the Johannes Kepler University Linz . In 1986 he accepted a call to the University of Klagenfurt and in 1991, after calling to other universities (inside and outside Austria), he could only be held in Klagenfurt through the intervention of the then Federal Minister for Science and Research, Erhard Busek . Kofler was the author or editor of around 20 specialist books and the author of more than 100 articles in compilations in the fields of finance and taxation.

From 2002 to 2007 Kofler was a member of the General Council of the Austrian National Bank . He was also head of the tax reform commission, which, under his former doctoral student, the former finance minister Karl-Heinz Grasser, developed the Austrian tax reform of 2004/05 as the most extensive to date in the history of the Second Republic with a volume of around three billion euros.

In 2007, Kofler was ranked 31st out of 1000 top executives in Austria by the “Industriemagazin” magazine.

In October 2008 he was appointed Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the listed Immofinanz AG and Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Immoeast AG.

In 2009, Federal President Heinz Fischer and Science Minister Johannes Hahn awarded Kofler the Great Silver Medal for Services to the Republic of Austria . Since the same year he was honorary professor at the University of Rijeka .

Private

Herbert Kofler was married and had two sons.
