Herbert Lepper

Herbert Lepper (born July 9, 1935 in Elsdorf ; † June 24, 2014 in Aachen ) was a German archivist and historian .

Lepper received his doctorate in 1967 with Max Braubach at the University of Bonn with the thesis The political currents in the administrative district of Aachen at the time of the establishment of the Empire and the culture war 1867-1887 . From 1972 to 1997 he was head of the Aachen city archive . In addition, he took on a teaching position at RWTH Aachen University and headed the City of Aachen's International Newspaper Museum for several years . In addition, Lepper was elected chairman of the Aachen History Association from 1984 to 1995 and then its honorary chairman.

Herbert Lepper was married and had two daughters, including the Egyptologist Verena Lepper .
