origin

Herbert Möller was born on his parents' farm in Maffersdorf, a market town in the Reichenberg district ( Sudetenland ). Actually, Herbert Möller should have studied at the Technical University in Prague after graduating from high school and should have taken over his parents' farm. As a war volunteer he was able to leave Stalingrad before the cauldron closed and he also escaped the Curonian cauldron. Herbert Möller's parents were first committed to forced labor by the Czechs in 1945 and then expelled to the Soviet zone of occupation. From there Herbert Möller brought her to Neumünster (Schleswig-Holstein), where he landed after the war.

Professional career

As a British prisoner of war, he was initially interned in Schleswig-Holstein. After his release, he entered the civil service of the British in Neumünster .

He then worked as a chemical worker and from 1952 was a manager of the Phrix works , which manufactured synthetic fibers, for 20 years . Herbert Möller then switched to the construction industry, was a managing board member of the non-profit housing cooperative BIG and managing director of the management company for property developers.

Political career

After a short membership in the BHE (Federation of Expellees and Disenfranchised) he joined the CDU in 1959, where he was chairman of the Neumünster district association from 1982 to 1991 and has been honorary chairman since 1991. Voluntary work

In retirement, Möller was involved in the German Red Cross in Neumünster. From 1990 to 1998 he was its district manager. When the DRK district association found itself in a serious crisis due to the Audi company car affair, Möller worked to clear things up and regain trust and was reactivated as acting managing director at the age of 84.

As a politician, he was primarily confronted with the problems of refugees, because the population of Schleswig-Holstein increased from 1.5 million locals by another 1.2 million refugees and displaced persons at the end of the war. Herbert Möller founded the non-profit housing and settlement construction cooperative “Eigener Herd”. As part of the state government's barrack evacuation program, 24 settler sites were initially set up in Neumünster-Tungendorf in 1952. In addition, as community leader, he founded the “Eigener Herd” settlement community in the German Settlers Association . Here he was active in the district executive committee, state executive committee and as federal treasurer. In 1997 he retired from this office at the federal level.

As a displaced person, Herbert Möller is still committed to the Sudeten Germans today. In 1955 he joined the Neumünster district group of the Sudetendeutschen Landsmannschaft (SL), which had been founded in 1950. Since August 2009 he has been acting chairman of SL Neumünster.
