Herbert Meyer (Germanist)

Herbert Meyer (born October 23, 1908 in Cologne , † July 16, 1992 in Mannheim ) was a German Germanist (Schiller and Mörike researcher) and librarian.

Life

From 1939 to 1952 he was library counselor at the Württemberg State Library in Stuttgart , interrupted by military service . From 1952 to 1959 he was co-owner of the antiquarian bookstore Guntzert-Freihen in Heidelberg (with his second wife). From 1959 to 1971 he was director of the Mannheim City Library , and from 1958 also director of the Reiss Museum (until 1973).
