Herbert Rawlinson (born November 15, 1885 in Brighton , Great Britain , † July 12, 1953 in Los Angeles , USA ) was an English actor who was seen in around 400 film productions.

Life

Herbert Rawlinson began his show career in the circus before making his film debut in 1911 with the short film The Cowboy and the Shrew . This film was to be followed by other films such as 1912 Sergeant Byrne of the Northwest Mounted Police . He played himself with his leading roles in the first league of silent film actors in Hollywood. He was later seen in the 1927 " Dick and Doof " film Slipping Wives . With the introduction of the talkie, he turned into a character actor, but mostly played in supporting roles. Only in smaller films such as Jungle of 1000 Dangers and King of the Royal Mounted from 1940 did he take on leading and important roles.

In addition to his work in film, Rawlinson also appeared on Broadway . In 1929 he was first seen in the play City Haul . From 1950 to 1951 he also worked as a presenter and narrator for the Hollywood Star Playhouse radio show . Herbert Rawlinson died of lung cancer on July 12, 1953 . A day before his death in 1953 he finished the film Jail Bait together with the "worst director of all time" Ed Wood . Rawlinson was married to Roberta Arnold. The marriage was divorced in 1923. He was also with Loraine Abigail Long and the actress Josephine Norman for a few years.
