The Herbert River is a river in the east of the Australian Territory Northern Territory . It does not have water all year round.

River course

The river is created in the Barkly Tableland by the confluence of Mikado Creek and Middle Branch . It flows south and then southeast to the Queensland border. There it goes over into the Georgina River .
