Herbert Thumpser
Herbert Thumpser (born March 7, 1961 in Lilienfeld ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). He was a member of the Federal Council from 1998 to 2003 and was a member of the Lower Austria state parliament from 2003 to 2008 and from 2009 to 2018 .
Life
Thumpser attended elementary and secondary school in Traisen and then graduated from 1975 to 1981 from the technical college in St. Pölten , which he graduated with the Matura . Before that he had attended high school in Lilienfeld for half a year. Between 1981 and 1983 he worked for VÖEST Alpine and from 1983 to 1998 for the SPÖ Lower Austria , where he served in the military from 1981 to 1982 . From 1992 he was active as a local councilor in Traisen, and in 1995 he was elected mayor. In 1998 he also took over the office of SPÖ district party chairman in Lilienfeld. Thumpser represented the SPÖ between April 16, 1998 and April 23, 2003 in the Federal Council and was sworn in as a member of the state parliament on April 24, 2003. After the state election in Lower Austria in 2008 , he left the state parliament on April 10, 2008, but replaced Emil Schabl in the state parliament on July 2, 2009 . After the state election in Lower Austria in 2018 , he left the state parliament.
He studied communication science at the Danube University Krems , graduating with a Master of Science degree in 2012 . Area of expertise: internal communication in organizations. Thumpser is married and has one son.
Since 2014 he has devoted himself increasingly to the Austrian motorcycle racing scene. He has now brought five books on the Austrian motorcycle scene onto the market.
