Herbert Wachholz

Herbert Wachholz (born October 18, 1917 in Salzdorf , West Prussia , † 1999 ) was a German banking and advertising clerk .

Life

Wachholz was born the son of a dairy owner. He completed an apprenticeship as a banker and served in the Air Force during the Second World War. After returning from captivity, he turned to journalism. In 1962 he joined the advertising department of the Süddeutscher Verlag . Two years later he took over the management of the aid campaign "Advent Calendar for Good Works" founded in 1948. Until his retirement in 1989, he continued to develop the initiative in close cooperation with the editorial staff of the Süddeutsche Zeitung .
