Fall Pitt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Herbst Pitt was a house brewery with a bar in Krefeld .

history

The restaurant was founded by Johann Josef Herbst on October 22, 1862 in the houses he built for this purpose. His son Theodor learned the brewing trade and incorporated his own brewery into the economy. Since then, the beer from our own production has only been served in the pub. Today the Herbst Pitt pub has its top-fermented dark Altbier brewed according to its original recipe from the Gleumes brewery.

The traditional restaurant has practically remained in the possession of the Herbst family to this day. The name Herbst Pitt ( Krieewelsch for "Peter Herbst") was given to the inn by its most famous host. Peter Herbst was an original from Krefeld and is still known to many today because of his humor. After the death of Peter Herbst, Josef Herbst took over the business in 1921.

When the Allies launched a major attack on Krefeld in June 1943 , the economy was saved with great difficulty from the flames of the surrounding burning houses.

Since the currency reform in 1948 , Altbier has always been a top-fermented Krefeld beer specialty on offer.

Herbst Pitt was in the tradition of Rhenish brewery restaurants , such as the brewery in Füchschen , Uerige , the Schumacher brewery in neighboring Düsseldorf or Früh in Cologne , with its current facilities and gastronomic offerings .

Most recently, the August Gleumes brewery brewed the beer according to Herbst Pitt's recipe.
