The Herdt publishing house for educational media GmbH is one of the leading publishers of educational media in German-speaking countries and is headquartered in Bodenheim at Mainz . With its focus on IT educational media, the publisher is the market leader in this area in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and annually produces around 1.2 million books on various topics. Since the summer of 2011, these books have been produced with the first T200 digital printing press from Hewlett-Packard , which went into operation in Europe .

history

Ansbert Herdt founded the publishing house together with his wife Andrea in 1991, out of dissatisfaction with the teaching material for IT courses available at the time and with the knowledge he had from computer courses he had given, for which he had written the documents himself. The publishing house was founded in Nackenheim . Since 2001 the head office has been in Bodenheim near Mainz . In 2013 the founders Andrea and Ansbert Herdt took over the management of the publishing house again.

Corporate structure

In Bodenheim - almost unique in the German publishing industry - books are partly written and edited in-house. In addition, everything from prepress to printing and sales is managed in-house. There are currently around 40 employees at HERDT, plus many freelance authors, including teachers and trainers, who are greatly enriched with their practical experience. The publishing house has branches in Vienna and Dübendorf near Zurich in the German-speaking region and cooperates with various other partners.

Every year Herdt-Verlag presents its new releases at the Learntec and didacta fairs .
