Herman Verbeek (born May 17, 1936 in Groningen ; † February 1, 2013 ibid) was a Dutch politician until 1990 with the Politieke Partij Raduellen (PPR) and from 1993 for De Groenen and also a Roman Catholic priest .

Life

After finishing school, Verbeek studied Roman Catholic theology . After completing his studies, he was ordained a priest in 1963 and from 1968 worked as a Catholic priest in the Diocese of Groningen in Joure .

Verbeek became politically active and a member of the Politieke Partij Raduellen (PPR) in Groningen. From 1977 to 1981 he was state party leader of the PPR. In 1984 Verbeek became a member of the 2nd European Parliament for the PPR . In 1986 he left the European Parliament in favor of John Hontelez . In 1989 he was re-elected to the European Parliament, where he remained a member until 1994. In 1994 he was the top candidate for De Groenen in the European Parliament election. But he was not elected. Verbeek wrote several books.
