Hermann Ameler
Hermann August Ameler (born December 26, 1811 in Herford ; † November 17, 1904 there ) was a Protestant pastor and Prussian parliamentarian.
Life
As the son of the respected Herford official surgeon, surgeon and ophthalmologist August Heinrich Ameler, Hermann Ameler attended the Friedrichs-Gymnasium in Herford and from 1831 studied Protestant theology at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin . In 1832 he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Bonn . In 1836/37 he passed the exam and from 1836 initially worked as a private teacher in Rahden . In 1838 he was ordained and pastor at the Jakobi Church and the Johanniskirche in Herford. From 1871 to 1885 he was superintendent in the parish of Herford .
From 1840 to 1860 he also headed the private teaching establishment for "daughters of educated families", today's Queen Mathilde High School in Herford . On August 7, 1849 Ameler became a non-attached member of the Prussian House of Representatives for the constituency of Minden II . On October 26, 1849, he resigned his mandate. In 1897 he finally retired as a pastor. A care center built in July 2018 by the Evangelical Diakonie Foundation Herford bears his name.
