Honorary citizen
The Herford people were very sparing with the award of honorary citizenship. By the 1200th anniversary, the city's records listed only ten men who had received the award. Most of them are only locally known people. At the moment there is no longer any honorary citizen of Herford, since honorary citizenship expires with death. The last two honorary citizens died in 2006.
