Julius Finke

Julius Finke (born June 29, 1880 in Bremen , † December 9, 1947 in Herford ) was a social democratic politician.

Live and act

Finke's father was a bricklayer, he himself learned the carpentry and joinery trade after elementary school . In 1903 he joined the free trade unions and in 1904 the SPD. By 1911, Finke worked as a carpenter journeyman . Then he was a warehouse keeper for the Herford consumer association . Finke was a soldier between 1914 and 1918. He then worked again at the consumer association in Herford until 1920. After that Finke was party secretary also in Herford until 1933.

From 1919 to 1924 he was first a city councilor and then until 1933 a member of the magistrate in Herford. From 1930 to 1933 he was a member of the Reichstag .

At the beginning of the National Socialist rule he was imprisoned several times. In 1944 he was arrested again as part of the grating action .

His son was the musician and instrument maker Helmut Finke .
