Friedrich Holzapfel (* 20th July 1900 in Bielefeld ; † 15. November 1969 in Pottersville , New Jersey ) was a German politician of the CDU .

education and profession

Holzapfel studied law and political science at the Universities of Münster and Berlin , and was awarded a Dr. rer. pole. obtained his doctorate and worked from 1926 to 1937 as managing director of the Chamber of Crafts in Bielefeld . He was a member of the Minden District Administrative Court from 1927 to 1933 and was dismissed by the National Socialists in 1937 for political reasons. From 1940 to 1952 he was a partner in a Herford brush factory.

Political party

Holzapfel was a member of the German National People's Party during the Weimar Republic and was one of the founding fathers of the CDU after the Second World War. From 1950 to 1952 he was deputy federal chairman of his party.

In 1945/1946, Holzapfel was Lord Mayor of the city of Herford.

MP

In 1946, Holzapfel briefly belonged to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia , was a member of the zone advisory board of the British zone of occupation from 1946 to 1948 and of the economic council of the Bizone from 1947 to 1949 , where he was parliamentary group chairman of the joint parliamentary group of CDU, CSU and DP and the ERP committee .

He belonged to the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Höxter constituency (then Warburg-Höxter-Büren ) from the first election in 1949 until the resignation on January 20, 1953.

Ambassador of the FRG

Holzapfel resigned from his Bundestag mandate to work as German envoy until 1957 and as ambassador in Bern / Switzerland from 1957 to 1958 .
