Bruno Wollbrink

Bruno Wollbrink (born April 23, 1957 in Herford ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2004 to 2014 he was the full-time mayor of the East Westphalian district town of Herford.

Life

Bruno Wollbrink graduated from the Ernst-Barlach Realschule in Herford in 1974. Then he worked in the judicial service. From 1989 to 1991 he completed additional training as a bailiff . He carried out this service from 1991 to 1993 at the district courts of Hamm , Tecklenburg and Bielefeld and from 1993 at the district court of Herford , where he had worked as a higher court bailiff since 1999.

In 1975 Wollbrink joined the SPD and in 1977 became the youngest local chairman in North Rhine-Westphalia . He has been a city council member in Herford since 1984. From 1991 to 2006 he was chairman of the Herford city sports association and deputy chairman of the district sports association. From 2000 to 2002 he was chairman of the SPD city association and from 2001 to 2004 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group in the city council.

Bruno Wollbrink is a member of ver.di. He is married and has a son.

From 1994 to 2001 Bruno Wollbrink was Deputy Mayor of Herford. In 2004 he ran as a candidate for mayor of the SPD. In the first ballot, the incumbent full-time mayor Thomas Gabriel ( CDU ) received 41.9 percent of the valid votes, while Bruno Wollbrink achieved 41.8 percent, and Wollbrink won the second ballot with 55.0 percent of the valid votes. In the mayoral election of 2009 he was confirmed with 52.9 percent of the valid votes in the first ballot.

Bruno Wollbrink is chairman of the sponsoring association of the Northwest German Philharmonic .
