Herford District Court
Herford is the seat of the Herford District Court , which is responsible for the towns of Enger , Herford and Spenge as well as for the municipality of Hiddenhausen in the Herford district. Around 121,000 people live in the 184 km² judicial district . In addition, the Herford District Court is responsible for agricultural matters in the Bünde and Herford District Court districts.

The regional court above the Herford District Court is the Bielefeld Regional Court , which in turn is subordinate to the Hamm Higher Regional Court .

The building was built in the late classicist style in 1874 . An extension was added later, in which the main entrance is located.
Controversial judgments
In 2010, the Herford magistrate, Helmut Knöner, caused a nationwide sensation after acquitting over 40 drivers who had been flashed when they exceeded their speed.
