The Bielefeld District Court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction with its seat in the East Westphalian city ​​of Bielefeld . It is housed together with the regional court and the labor court in the court center in the southeastern city center.

District and duties

The district court of Bielefeld is responsible for the approximately 330,000 inhabitants of the independent city ​​of Bielefeld and the 26,300 inhabitants of the city of Schloß Holte-Stukenbrock in the Gütersloh district. It is one of ten local courts in the district court district of Bielefeld.

As for all courts in the Hamm Higher Regional Court , the central dunning court is the Hagen District Court .

history

With the entry into force of the Reich Justice Act in 1879, there is the Bielefeld District Court. In the same year, they moved into a building on Richtstrasse. Since the building proved to be too small due to the growing population, a new building was gradually built and occupied from 1984 to 1989. Today 300 judicial staff are employed at the district court.

Jens Gnisa , born in Bielefeld, has been the director of the district court since autumn 2012 , and previously worked as vice-president at the Paderborn district court . He replaced Jörg Heinrichs, who had been the district court director in office since 2008.
