The district court Vlotho was a district court in the district of the district court Bielefeld , which existed from 1878 to 1973. It was responsible for the area of ​​today's city of Vlotho and had its seat at Langen Straße 112. The judicial district of the Vlotho district court today belongs to the Bad Oeynhausen district court .

In the district court district of Bielefeld, due to the royal Prussian ordinance on the establishment of district courts of July 26, 1878, in addition to the district court Vlotho, the district courts Bielefeld , Bünde , Gütersloh , Halle (Westf.) , Herford , Lübbecke , Minden , Bad Oeynhausen, Petershagen , Rahden , Rheda , Rietberg and Wiedenbrück furnished. With the exception of the district courts of Petershagen, Rheda, Rietberg and Vlotho, these continue to exist today. Vlotho was already the place of jurisdiction before 1878. The lawyer and politician Benedikt Waldeck was city and regional court director in Vlotho from 1832 to 1836. A plaque on the former courthouse commemorates this today.

During the Second World War , the Vlotho District Court was temporarily co-administered by the Bad Oeynhausen District Court. At the end of December 31, 1973, the Bielefeld Law repealed the Vlotho District Court and added its district to the Bad Oeynhausen District Court. A branch of the Bad Oeynhausen District Court was established in Vlotho. After the extension of the Bad Oeynhausen District Court was built between 1973 and 1975, which the company moved into in February 1975, the Vlotho branch was closed on June 30, 1975.
