Martin Bartsch

Martin Bartsch (* 1942 in Lübbecke ) is a German church musician .

Bartsch studied church music from 1962 to 1965 at the College for Church Music of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia in Herford . After the B-exam he continued his studies at the State Conservatory in Bremen ( A-exam ). From 1967 to 1982 Martin Bartsch was a full-time church musician in Bielefeld at the Neustädter Marienkirche . Martin Bartsch has been church music director (KMD) since 1978 . In 1983 Bartsch took over the office of regional church music director of the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck , which he held until 2007. In 1994 he was given the honorary title of Council of Churches , the highest honor of the regional church. In addition to his extensive duties in the regional church, he was in charge of the Schlüchtern church music training center as well as the Osthessische Kantorei and the Stadtkirche Schlüchtern choir . From 1992 to 2007 he headed the Kurhessische Kantorei Marburg, which he founded. In Marburg, he held several lectureships in the theology department at the University of Marburg .

His retirement is characterized by activities as organist, choir director, speaker and editor. Bartsch was a member of the German Music Council until 2010 , where he represented the Evangelical Church in Germany. Martin Bartsch was chairman of the Schlüchtern District Synod from spring 2008 to summer 2012 . Starting in the winter semester of 2008, he was given a teaching position in the field of church music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main . He has retained this lecturing activity from his new place of residence in Bielefeld (since summer 2012). In the meantime, Bartsch was in charge of church music in the A-church musician position in Bad Hersfeld for a year as a vacancy representative.

  • In the Hesse regional section of the Evangelical Hymn book , three songs are published for which Martin Bartsch created the melody: EG Hessen 544: The way is so long , EG Hessen 588: Carry a light into the world and EG Hessen 595: The earth is des Lord .
