Fritz Vogelstrom
Fritz Vogelstrom (born November 4, 1882 in Herford , † December 25, 1963 in Dresden ) was a German opera singer ( tenor ).
Life
Vogelstrom made his debut at the Mannheim National Theater in 1903 as Tamino in the Magic Flute . He stayed in Mannheim until 1912, then moved to the royal opera house in Dresden, where he sang Siegfried in the Ring of the Nibelung in 1913 . At the Bayreuth Festival (→ Richard-Wagner-Festspielhaus ) Vogelstrom sang the title roles in Lohengrin and Parsifal as well as Froh im Rheingold in 1909 .
In 1927 he worked under the direction of Richard Strauss in Salome and was reprimanded by him for his somewhat freer approach to rhythm. In 1929 he retired into private life. He lived in Köthen in 1945 .
Several sound recordings by Fritz Vogelstrom have been preserved. He was an honorary member of the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Semperoper Dresden.
