Heinrich von Herford ; also Heinrich von Hervord, Henricus de Hervordia; (* around 1300 in Herford ; † October 9, 1370 in the Dominican Monastery of St. Pauli in Minden ), learned Dominican , chronicler , historian and theologian.

Life

Few facts are available about the life of Heinrich von Herford. Born around 1300 in Herford, he probably attended the Latin school of the imperial abbey there (today Friedrichs-Gymnasium Herford ) and stayed in Lemgo in 1326. Around 1328 he was in the Dominican monastery of Soest and since then or only in Minden he belonged to the Dominican order , in whose general chapter he had participated in Milan in 1340 . He died on October 9, 1370 in the Dominican monastery of St. Pauli in Minden, where he most likely spent most of his life. Heinrich's writings must have earned him a relative fame shortly after his death, as Emperor Charles IV arranged for him to be reburied in a more honorable burial place seven years after Heinrich's death and hosted a large funeral ceremony for which a number of people of both secular and spiritual importance were present.
