Friedrich Schütze Quest

Friedrich Schütze-Quest (born September 16, 1943 in Herford ; † September 1, 2016 in Saarbrücken ) was a German journalist and feature author .

Life

Friedrich Schütze-Quest - a nephew of the actor Hans Quest - grew up in Seehausen on the Staffelsee and also attended school here. His plan to become a pilot failed due to an eye defect. From 1962 to 1966 he completed three and a half years of traineeship at news agencies, newspapers and radio. He then worked as an editor at agencies and publishers until 1968. From 1968 to 1971 he was editor of the daily newspaper Münchner Merkur , then until 1978 reporter and editor in the radio of the Westdeutscher Rundfunk and from 1978 to 1982 chief editor and reporter of Saarländischer Rundfunk . From 1982 to 1987 he worked as an ARD correspondent in Australia and until 1992 as a travel correspondent for Southeast Asia.

From then on, Schütze-Quest worked as a freelance author and journalist in Asia, USA, Africa, Russia and the Middle East for ARD and national daily newspapers ( Die Welt, among others). His research, which often took months, resulted mainly in radio features for ARD, and in some cases also television documentaries. In most of his radio documentaries, the actor Hans-Peter Bögel acted as the vocal alter ego of the world traveler Friedrich Schütze-Quest .

With three million flight kilometers in over 60 countries, Schütze-Quest was the ARD's most widely traveled foreign correspondent.

On September 30th, 2016 Friedrich Schütze-Quest was buried in the cemetery in Murnau am Staffelsee .
