Life

After studying acting , Hans-Peter Bögel initially had theater engagements. Since 1975 he has worked as a freelance actor, speaker and director for radio and television.

He has worked as a speaker and director on numerous radio plays and features , especially for Süddeutscher Rundfunk and Südwestfunk (SDR and SWF, since 1998 SWR ). For example, he spoke in the radio collage The Hot Air of Games (1972) by Ror Wolf or the radio play The Kings of the Bees (1976) by Elfriede Jelinek . He was also involved in The Lord of the Rings (1991) based on JRR Tolkien , one of the most elaborate radio play productions ever. Since the 1970s, Bögel has also regularly engaged in children's radio plays and occasionally directed them. Two of the resulting radio plays received the terre des hommes children's radio play award in 1985 and 1988 .

Since the late 1970s, Bögel has also established itself on the audio book market . Among other things, he has read in Das Parfum (1986) by Patrick Süskind , Notes on Hitler (1987) by Sebastian Haffner and Jesus von Nazareth (2007) by Joseph Ratzinger . One of his most remarkable achievements in this area is the 47-hour reading by Golo Manns Wallenstein. His Life (1986).

In 1988/1989 he spoke the texts for the German-language edition of the internationally known bird's voice records by Jean-Claude Roché .

Hans-Peter Bögel is also known to an audience of millions as a voiceover from numerous nature and history documentaries - such as the ZDF series Terra X or milestones in science and technology . Since he consistently does not work as a voice actor, the audience does not associate his sonorous, calm voice with the face of well-known international film actors. In contrast , Bögel was rarely seen as an actor in film and television. He also holds regular readings .

From 1985 to 2007 Bögel taught as a professor for drama at the State University for Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart .
