Milestones of Science and Technology , in short MdNuT , is a series of educational television of ARD , which since 1990 produced at irregular intervals and primarily in the third programs on EinsPlus and ARD-alpha is broadcast. The programs have a running time of around 15 minutes and present outstanding achievements and inventions from all areas of science and technology in an informative and entertaining way . Each episode focuses on famous discoveries , research, and inventions. Enriched with many anecdotes , technical and physical backgrounds are clearly explained through animations and historical materials. The series benefits from the extensive archive recordings of the broadcasters.
Production was carried out in the 1990s by Target Film GmbH Munich and in the 2000s by Inter / Aktion GmbH , mostly in cooperation with broadcasters such as: Südwestrundfunk (SWR), Westdeutscher Rundfunk (WDR), Schweizer Fernsehen (SR) , Bayerischer Rundfunk (BR), Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR), Institute for Film and Image in Science and Education , Trans Tel GmbH, Telepool, ARD-alpha and Deutsche Welle (DW).
As part of school television, the series is partly translated into English and broadcast on SWR. The English title is: Milestones in Science and Engineering or Great Moments in Science and Technology . Occasionally, a French translation of Les grandes dates de la science et de la technique is broadcast on BR-alpha and the Spanish counterpart Cumbres de las ciencias naturales y la técnica is broadcast on Südwestrundfunk . The episode Die Nadel aus Beton was the only one to be broadcast in Arabic so far.
From 2007 to 2008, the PM Magazin publisher put four of the programs from the fields of science and technology as well as medicine, which fit thematically together, together on one DVD each, a total of 12 episodes that are sold commercially as PM knowledge edition ; there were also historical and mystery topics on the 50 or more DVDs.
