The Burgstall Tiefenthal , also called Kapellenberg , is an abandoned hilltop castle at 387 m above sea level. NN high hill in the district Tiefenthal of the city of Wörth an der Donau in the Upper Palatinate district of Regensburg in Bavaria .
Little reliable data are known about the hilltop castle, which was probably built in the 12th century by the Lords of Tiefenthal. The castle was abandoned before 1400 and mentioned as a castle stables in 1401 .
The former core castle with moat was to the west behind the castle chapel and the former outer bailey in place of the large meadow on the east and north sides. Today's Burgstall shows nothing above ground and is a ground monument .
The originally two-storey castle chapel Sankt Ulrich and Wolfgang has been preserved, dates from the 12th to 13th centuries and was rebuilt in the 17th century.
