The Raitenbucher Schloss (sometimes just called Raitenbucher Haus ) is a listed building at Vilsgasse 10 in the Upper Palatinate market of Kallmünz in the Regensburg district ( Bavaria ).

history

In Kallmünz this former castle was owned by the von Raitenbuch family . In 1341 Ludwig the Bavarian freed his court master Heinrich von Raidenbuch over his seat at Callmünz von Steur, raiß (= war campaign), blackwerckh and granted him the right to seal with red wax . In 1514 the noble seat is mentioned in the Palatinate-Neuburgian country table , 1575 to 1599 in connection with the country estate Arlesberg . In 1600 it says: The Raitenbuecher Hauß zu Calmüntz; Noblemen's seat; A house from Purckhgueth to Callmünz in then Marckht behind the little church on the Schloßberg. 1727 is spoken of the Hoffmarckh Marckstetten and Rittergut zu Callmünz with Schloss zu Callmünz .

In 1283, Kallmünz became the seat of a regional court of the Duchy of Upper Bavaria, which was established in 1255 . The regional court met in Raitenbuch Castle. Since the necessary offices for judges and bailiffs first had to be created, entries for this district court did not begin until 1323. The court building also had a bailiff's house with a prison, the so-called Keuche .

Judges working here are attested from 1300. The list begins with Hainrich von Sigenheim (1300) and ends with Franz Sigmund Freiherr von Wildenau (1772), carer for Burglengenfeld , Kallmünz and Schmidmühlen .

In 1804 the 15 Palatinate Neuburg regional courts were reduced to eight and Kallmünz was merged with Burglengenfeld. The Raitenbucher Schloss was acquired in 1806 by the market town of Kallmünz from the court lords of Fleischmann zu Markstetten and adapted as a school building. The Keuche was sold to a private person.

In the 1990s, the municipality of Kallmünz used the castle for social housing. Today the renovated building is used as a hotel. The renovated building was awarded the Hypo-Kulturstiftung monument award in 2013 .

Raitenbucher Schloss then and now

In 1805, the street-side access that is still preserved today was created using the external staircase. In 1885 the building was raised by one floor to create more classrooms. The Raitenbucher Schloss is therefore a four-story hipped roof building with a corner bay window. It is provided with a stucco structure (base rustica with parapet fields and corner pilasters) from the 17th century. The basement was built directly on natural rock. There are vaults on the ground floor .
