Schierling Castle (2014)

The former Schierling Castle is a listed courtyard complex at Schlossstrasse 3 in Markt Schierling (Upper Palatinate) in the Regensburg district ( Bavaria ). The castle-like structure was built on the remains of a medieval low or moated castle .

history

The builders of the former Niederungsburg were probably the Knights of Schierling. Their alleged descent from the Counts of Kirchberg from Andermannsdorf cannot be proven. The early history of this family is considered uncertain. It was not until the early 12th century that the lords of Schierling became tangible in bishop and monastery documents. 1138 a Hainricus de Schirlingin is called, around 1170 there are Adelbert de Schirlingin and Werinhard de Schirlingin , in 1223 an Ernst miles de Schirlinge appears in the traditions of the St. Emmeram monastery . Members of this family are addressed as knights. This family can be traced back to the late 14th century. Then they are replaced by the tension nails. At the end of the 16th century, the Rosenpusch and then the Reiffenstuel were here, until ownership was passed to the Straubing Jesuit College .

After the purchase by the Jesuit College in Straubing in 1689, the facility was changed. In 1728 the wing structures were erected. The castle later came into the possession of the Order of Malta . Today the farm is privately owned.

The barn is a gable-independent gable roof with a tail gable, pilasters and round arched brick gates from 1728.
